THE BOOK OF GENESIS..Jacob and God.

JACOB’S ENCOUNTER WITH GOD!

Fearing for his life, at his mother’s bidding that he should go to his relatives back east, he prepared to leave. Things should soon settle and he could return again.

Isaac came to farewell his son and blessed him. So they sent him off to Laban the brother of his mother who lived in Padan-aram. He was a son of Bethuel the Syrian.

Jacob had walked toward Haram. He came upon a certain place and stayed there all night. He took stones and made himself a pillar on which to sleep. Sleeping outside in the open was no problem, as it was customary for shepherds to do so. It was no hardship for Jacob.

Read Gen 29:12-19. As he slept, he dreamed that there was a ladder reaching from earth to Heaven and angels of God were ascending (going up), and descending (coming down upon it), they were performing the work of God.

That speaks to us of an open Heaven for us to come boldly to the Throne of Grace, through identification with Christ. Heb 4:16. Jacob in his spectacular dream saw God in all His Glory, standing above the ladder.

Jehovah speaks to Jacob and confirms the Abrahamic Covenant with him.

Let’s ponder upon all the “I Will’s,” that God had given to Jacob.

“I will..Give you the land of Promise!” cpt 28:13.

“I will..Keep you wherever you go!” v15.

“I will..Bring you again into this land, and l will not leave you until I have fulfilled all my obligations to you!” verse 15.

“I will be with you!” 31:3.

“I will..Deal well with you!”Cpt 31:3

“I will..Do you Good!”Cpt 32:12

“I will give you this Land!”Cpt 35:2

There are more promises that, the Lord God bestowed upon Jacob. Such as..
Giving the land to him and his seed.

Make of him a great nation in Egypt, and going to Egypt with him then escorting him home again.

By making him fruitful and greatly multiplying him. This is all there in.. chapters 35-48.

We are also blessed in Jesus the Messiah.
All families and nations will be blessed in the New Kingdom. There are so many promises of the certainty of He being with us. Hebrews 13:5 is worth claiming. (Amplfied Version)

God Himself has said..

“I WILL NOT IN ANYWAY FAIL YOU,
NOR GIVE YOU UP, NOR LEAVE YOU WITHOUT SUPPORT.”

“I WILL NOT! I WILL NOT! IN ANY DEGREE LEAVE YOU HELPLESS, NOR FORSAKE YOU, OR LET YOU YOU DOWN, OR RELAX MY HOLD UPON YOU, “ASSUREDLY NOT!!”

Does this overwhelm you?
I am overwhelmed! What an awesome God we have!!
Jacob didn’t ask for much. He came back to his Father an extremely rich man. This is the blessing of God!

Jacob awakened afraid and awestruck. He exclaimed, “Surely the Lord is in this place and I didnt know it!”

“This is none other than the house of God, this is the gate of Heaven.” So he called the name of that place.. Bethel!
Then he made a vow saying, “If God will be with me and keep me in the way I should go and give me bread to eat and clothes to wear, so I can return to my Father’s house again in peace.” “THEN SHALL THE LORD BE MY GOD.”

You can also step out in faith and do God’s will, and as you do, keep this saying in your mind..

“GOD’S WILL NEVER LACKS GOD’S SUPPORT!”
