Laban deceives Jacob.
The Macquarie Dictonary explains the word deception as..
The “perversion of truth for the purpose of misleading”
“An act intended to deceive to someone else.”
1. It is falsehood, lying. Psl 119:118.2.
2. It comes from the heart. Mark 7:22.
3. It is a characteristic of the heart.
4. It is forbidden. Prov 24:28. Eph 4:24.
5. GOD abhors (detests) it.
6. Christ can set us free from it. 1 Peter 2:22.
7. Beware of those who practice and teach it. Eph 5:6.
8. It must be laid aside. 2 Cor 4:2.
9. False teachers and witnesses use it. 2 Cor.11:13.
Deceit hinders the word of God and the knowledge of God. It leads to pride and sin.
It definitely involves lying. It causes fraud and injustice and much wounding of the spirit. Deception conceals hate and evil plans. It encourages us to sin and add to it.
So deception defiles the soul and causes hardening of the heart.
We need to repent of it and decide with our will to be totally honest.
There is no such thing as white lies! Lies are as black as hell!..Satan is a liar! He was from the beginning of time.
We are to be honorable in principles, intentions and actions.
An honest person is fair and upright, a person you can trust. Honest with finances, open and sincere and genuine.
Men, a woman should be virtuous and truthful in her relationship with you, as your wife. It is the same instruction for you, woman, as a wife to your husband.
God’s word gives us instruction on having an honest and a good heart.
ln Acts 6:3 they were to choose men that were of “honest report” to take over the disciples duties as supervisors of the distribution of food, so they could be free to teach the WORD of GOD.
Look at 2 Cor 8:2. This is a great scripture on the requirements of honest living in front of God and of man.
“FOR WE TAKE THOUGHT BEFOREHAND AND AIM TO BE “HONEST” AND ABSOLUTELY ABOVE SUSPICION, NOT ONLY IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD, BUT IN THE SIGHT OF MAN.” (Amp.)
The word that comes to my mind is the word, “TRANSPARENT.” As light shines through clear glass and is not clouded by any imperfections. Our lives should be transparent with see-through honesty.
Let us allow the light of the cross to shine through our lives..removing any traces of darkness ..
LIFE BEGINS..ONLY THEN!!
