THE BOOK OF JOSHUA! Entering The Land.

ENTERING THE LAND.
Remember that the key thought of the book of Joshua is ..
THE VICTORY OF FAITH!
GOD had called Joshua as the next leader of lsrael, as Moses had died. In
Joshua’s name means “Jehovah our Savio

ur.”

The thing to remember is that .. his commission was grounded upon the Word of God.

He was obedient to that call by faith. It was not a call based upon human reasoning.
Once He knew that God had spoken, (there is no higher authority than that!) then there is no better reason to obey.

True faith works always on the principle shown to us in, Heb 13:5,6.

“HE HAS SAID .. SO WE MAY SAY.” God always gives clear directions for us to understand and obey. That is why you must read His Word.

JERICHO SPIED.
With the Lord’s words of encouragement and sure victory Joshua sent out two spies to Jericho, (Which was the key city) to view it’s vulnerability.

JORDAN CROSSED.
The crossing of Jordan was a major step of faith. Forty years earlier the other generation that failed to cross the Jordan had died off.

To come out of Egypt was one thing,
but it was another step of faith to .. go over this Jordan. They had to be committed to face their enemies with lron chariots, huge armies and (that included giants) and have no-where to retreat. They could lose everything!

The same choices come to us as Christians, We must earnestly desire to do God’s will and to totally abandon ourselves over to obedience to that will.

God must be absolutely first in your Spirit, Soul, and Body. You must be totally in Love with Him, abandoning everything else.

There is no other way of living the Christian life.

It is one thing to have Jesus as your Saviour from sin. It is another thing to make Him Lord of your will and life.
This must be our choice, our Jordan to cross!

MEMORIALS RAISED. Josh chp 4.

A faith that goes ‘all the way’ with God
is rewarded with many blessings.

These two piles of stones represent,
the faithfulness of God in bringing,
His people at last to the promised land.

The first pile in the river was a memorial of God’s Power, in holding back the wall of water, and making a dry path for them to cross.

The second pile of twelve stones also representing the twelve tribes of lsrael, showing the Faithfulness of God in delivering them onto the shores of the Promised land.

CIRCUMCISION REPEATED.

Now is the time to circumcise the lsraelite males .. this practice had been neglected for forty years. This was a mark of separateness.
It was the seal of God’s Covenant with lsrael.

Moses had himself exhorted them to,

“CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEART,
AND BE NO MORE STIFFNECKED.”
Deut 10:7.

“THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL CURCUMCISE YOUR HEART .. TO LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD.”
Deut 30:6.

For us, we can learn from this, that we also must put off the things of the ‘flesh.’
It is a sharp pruning of all selfish desires, maybe known to you alone, or you will be soon chastened by the Lord!

Ours is a ‘daily dying’ of selfish ways.
The pain is soon gone and you will be thrilled with the new, fresh, close and beautiful relationship with God !

ISRAEL TODAY.

Amen.

  1. I love your following statement Heather;
“It is one thing to have Jesus as your Saviour from sin. It is another thing to make Him Lord of your will and life.
This must be our choice, our Jordan to cross!” So very true!
    Bless you sweet friend ❤️

  2. I love the message in this blog…but I have to say that I also love the lay out, the font, etc. It is very easy to read with nothing popping up or blocking it. As a senior I so appreciate this…but who wouldn’t…

  3. I appreciate this truth, Heather, “He has said…so we may say.” We must die daily to truly enter into the relationship He has for us with Himself.

  4. Yes, it’s amazing the riches in the Promised Land that the Lord provides us too. I want to believe more and see more of Jesus in my spiritual life like these Hebrews did in the physical land of Jericho.

  5. I’ve been pretty savage-pruned
to the trunk and even more,
so much, in fact, I’m feelin’ ruined,
need to ask, just what’s the score?
Got the tumours in my neck,
    metastasis done broke my arm;
    nausea, I’m green like Shrek
to my dear sweet wife’s alarm.
    Life’s now a survival tale,
all else is just silly fluff
from which a ravaged heart must bail
to stay hard and strong enough
to face the nightmare morning brings,
    apparent penance for my sins.

    1. Thankyou so much Barbara. It’s such an encouragement to hear from people that have a similar calling I
read your blogs and love what you share,

the wonderful gift. That God has placed in you. Blessings.
